This document explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. "We," "our," and "the Institution" refer to the operator of the PES PU College app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws, including Google Play’s Developer Program Policies.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
1.1 Account and identity information
- Email address and/or mobile number when you log in or register
- Name and profile information associated with your account (student, parent, faculty, or admin)
1.2 Usage and analytics data
- App usage events (e.g. screens viewed, features used) to improve the App and user experience
- Crash reports and technical diagnostics to fix errors and improve stability
- Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and support
1.3 Push notifications
- Device token (e.g. FCM token) to send you announcements, alerts, and other notifications you have consented to
1.4 Payment-related information
- When you make payments through the App (e.g. fees), payment processing is handled by PayU. We may receive transaction status and reference information; we do not store your full card or bank account details. PayU’s own privacy policy applies to their processing of payment data.
1.5 Content you provide
- Photos or files you choose to upload or attach within the App (e.g. for assignments or profile)
- Feedback, responses, or other content you submit in the App
1.6 Device and app permissions
- With your permission: camera (e.g. for scanning), photo library, storage, and notifications
- Biometric data (e.g. fingerprint or face) is used only on your device to unlock the App and is not sent to our servers
- Connectivity information to provide online features and detect network status
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the App and related services
- To authenticate you and manage your account (student, parent, faculty, or admin)
- To send you important announcements, alerts, and push notifications (where you have agreed)
- To process payments and communicate about transactions
- To analyze usage and fix crashes for a better experience
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect or process data. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase – Analytics, push notifications (Cloud Messaging), and crash reporting (Crashlytics). Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- PayU – Payment processing. PayU’s privacy policy applies to their handling of payment data.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only as needed to operate the App, with service providers under contract, or when required by law.
4. Data Retention and Security
We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the App, support your account, comply with law, or resolve disputes. We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: You may request access to or correction of your personal data by contacting us.
- Opt-out of analytics: You can limit or disable analytics through your device or in-app settings where available.
- Push notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us; we will process such requests in line with applicable law.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App may be used by students, including those under 13 in certain contexts (e.g. pre-university). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian as required by law. If you believe we have collected a child’s data without proper consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in India or in other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place where required by applicable law.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and/or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
